o I originally started this podcast because every hipster has a podcast, but the real reason is because I have very interesting friends, or at least, I think they are very interesting. With these people, I could have great conversations for days non stop, about many different subjects. This podcast is a bit of an experiment, to see if our conversations, that we think are interesting, are also interesting for other people. So you are a guinea pig in this experiment and I hope you enjoy it. One of THESE friends is Alex Fan. Alex is one of those friends I brag about to other friends. I tell them that Alex is very good at picking the best restaurants in town, and then picking the best dishes from the menu. So with him you'll have a great meal, unless your dietary restrictions conflict with the menu. Alex is from China but has been living abroad for about a decade. He works for language startup Lingvist. Like me, he has a very strong interest in languages. He speaks Chinese, English, German, Russian, Estonian, French and probably a few more languages. He is an expert on wine, spirits and cocktails, and is now doing a training for wine expert with WSET, the Wine and Spirits Education Trust. in this episode we will talk about a few subjects, but I could fill many more hours talking to him, so maybe there will be a follow up episode in the future. In any case, it is an honour to present my very first guest on this podcast, Alex Fan.
